There are 3 Traditional Owner groups in the Douglas Local Landscape, as shown in the image to the right. See below for a brief description of each group’s connection to country or click on the links to access contact details for these groups.
- Jabalbina Yalanji AC – The Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC administers land on behalf of the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people of the Daintree. They hold exclusive native title rights over more than 30,000ha of the Daintree rainforest, as well as non-exclusive rights over an additional 96,600ha, including access rights for camping, hunting, fishing, gathering and the conduct of ceremonies.
- Western Yalanji AC – The Western Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation administers land on behalf of the Western Yalanji people. They hold non-exclusive native title rights over parts of the Karma Waters pastoral property, to the west of Daintree and just on the western boundary of the Wet Tropics NRM region.
- Dawul Wuru (Yirrganydji) Aboriginal Corporation – The corporation was established to protect, secure, support and promote the rights and interests of local Aboriginal Traditional Owners in the area between Cairns and Port Douglas.
