Within the Russell and Mulgrave Catchments Local Landscape, there are 4 Traditional Owner groups, as shown in the image to the right.  See below for a brief description of each group’s connection to country or click on the links to access contact details for these groups.

Mandingalbay Yidinji – The Mandingalbay Yidinji Aboriginal Corporation administers land owned by the Mandingalbay Yidinji people, just east of Cairns.

Wanyurr Majay – The Wanyurr Majay People’s Native Title rights and interests have been recognised over approximately 200 square kilometres of land near Babinda, including part of Wooroonooran National Park.  The Wanyurr Majay Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC administers the responsibilities and obligations associated with the Native Title determination.

Dulabed Malanbarra and Yidinji – The Dulabed and Malanbarra Yidinji peoples have been recognised as native title holders over 16,460ha of land and waters, south of Cairns.

Ngadjon-ji (Choorechillum) – Choorechillum (Ngadjon Jii PBC) Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC administer native title rights over land and waters in parts of the Wooroonooran National Park, and further onto the Tablelands into Topaz Road National Park, Malanda Falls Conservation Park and two quarry reserves.
