UH: Water Quality Management

Reduce water quality impacts resulting from point sources of water pollution, such as from urban and mining runoff, to improve waterway health.

Why it is important?

Farming practice change on grazing properties in the Upper Herbert can help to improve water quality by reducing diffuse sources of pollution. Other point sources of pollution, such as from mining and urban runoff, also need to be dealt with to continue to deliver greater improvements to water quality.

Examples of Local Action

  • Rehabilitate old mine sites to prevent pollutants from entering waterways (eg. old tin mines in the Upper Herbert).
