UH: Upper Herbert Wetlands

Undertake restoration work on some of the priority waterways and wetlands in the Upper Herbert.

Why it is important?

Wetlands and waterways provide important habitat in the Upper Herbert.  Restoring these areas (weed management, de-silting, riparian restoration) will help improve water quality flowing to the lower catchment and out to the Great Barrier Reef, as well as providing a cleaner water source for downstream users.

Examples of Local Action

  • Conduct weed control and revegetation in riparian areas.
  • De-silt wetlands and waterways that are becoming blocked with excess sediment.
