Conduct a comprehensive feral pig eradication program, with sufficient and ongoing resourcing for large-scale impact.
Why it is important?
Feral pig populations have grown in the last 5 years and are now impacting negatively on all aspects of NRM, including damaging habitat, cultural heritage, water quality and sustainable industries ($1.2M impact on sugarcane in Mulgrave district alone). Pigs are undermining restoration efforts, causing soil carbon loss and presenting a biosecurity risk.
